Mr. Sharp speaks openly about his view of the historical context; for him, Leonard Peltier is a symptomatic figure for the centuries-long war against North America’s indigenous peoples. Reconciliation, Mr. Sharp says, can only happen when those in power show some understanding and ask for forgiveness. Pardoning Leonard Peltier would be a significant first step.
